David Shaw (MP for Dover 1987-1997)

This is the homepage of David Shaw who was the first MP to join the Internet, post to UK UseNet Newsgroups and set up his own home page.  I hope you enjoy these pages and the virtual tour of this beautiful and historic constituency.  Dover's history can be traced back through four millenia as a result of the recent discovery of a bronze age ship.  The constituency has 3 Ancient Castles at Dover, Deal and Walmer. Walmer Castle is the traditional home of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, currently HRH The Queen Mother.  The Ancient Romans tried to land at Dover in 55 BC but were forced to go further up the coast. Dover Castle, at the top of Dover's White Cliffs protected the United Kingdom from invasion for 900 years.
